KZN fisherman killed in shark attack
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Search and Rescue officials have recovered the body of a fisherman who went missing in an incident involving a shark near Hibberdene on KZN's south coast.

The 37-year-old and two other fishermen were along the coastline of Mfazazana near a school of sardines on Friday.
It's understood that the man disappeared underwater after a shark surfaced where he was fishing.
Craig Lambinon, from the National Sea Rescue Institute, says his friend attempted to intervene but was confronted by at least two other sharks and retreated to the shoreline.
Lambinon says the sharks were feeding on the school of sardines at the time.

He says K9 Search and Rescue members were called out on Friday but could not locate the man, but found a body on Sunday.
"The body recovered by police divers appears to show signs of obvious shark wounds that are being investigated. The body of the deceased man has been taken into the care of the police and government health forensic pathology services.
“Formal identification of the man, in cooperation with police and government health forensic pathology services, is in progress. Police have opened an inquest docket."
