KZN father jailed for raping daughter

A KwaZulu-Natal man has begun serving a life imprisonment sentence after pleading guilty to the rape of his daughter.

The 29-year-old was sentenced in the Greytown Regional Court this week.
Police say the incident occurred within the Greytown policing precinct.
KZN police spokesperson, Siyabonga Nkwayana, says the man arrived at a home where the eight-year-old was living with her aunt.

Nkwanyana says he was under the influence of alcohol and demanded that the child sleep in his room.
" Upon questioning her, the child revealed that she had been raped by her father. A case of rape was immediately opened and assigned to a dedicated detective, Sergeant Richard Gilden of Greytown Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
"The accused was swiftly arrested, and a thorough investigation was conducted. All evidence was carefully compiled and presented before court."
