KZN Education MEC vows to tackle issues plaguing Phoenix schools
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu has promised to get to the bottom of issues - plaguing several schools in Phoenix, north of Durban.
Mshengu has met with the SGBs of at least 12 schools dealing with matters ranging from claims of inappropriate teacher-pupil relations, drug abuse to missing school funds.
He received the record of complaints at the meeting.
"These range from the selling of posts, to the rigging of school governing body elections."
Mshengu says they view the allegations in a serious light.
"That's why we need to ensure that we get to the bottom of the issues without compromising the process and engaging in a witch-hunt. All those implicated should be given a chance to be given their side of the story but will also be looking for hard evidence, " Mshengu adds.
