Gauteng
police have shot and killed five suspects linked to a cash-in-transit heist in
KwaZulu-Natal.

The suspected robbers were gunned down in a shootout in Johannesburg's Crown Mines area on Thursday afternoon.
Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says teams, acting on intelligence about an intended CIT heist, swooped on the gang near the M1/M2 highway split.
She says the suspects sped away, leading police on a high-speed chase.
Nevhuhulwi says as the pursuit continued, the suspects started shooting at the law enforcement officers who returned fire.
"The suspects' vehicle crashed into a palisade fence. All five occupants were fatally shot.
"Preliminary investigation reveals that the same vehicle was involved in a murder and cash-in-transit robbery that occurred on 14 July 2025 at Kingsley in KwaZulu-Natal. An AK-47, a pistol and explosives were found inside the vehicle."
