KZN ANCYL welcomes Public Protector report on ABSA

The ANC Youth League in KwaZulu-Natal has welcomed the Public Protector's report on ABSA's apartheid era loan.
Busisiwe Mkhwebane has suggested remedial action, saying ABSA should pay back the R1,1-billion. She found that the Reserve Bank's bailout of Bankorp later acquired by ABSA was unlawful.
Mkhwebane also recommended the matter be referred to the Special Investigating Unit to help recover the money.
The youth league has staged pickets in recent months outside some of the bank's KZN branches.

Spokesperson, Mandla Shange says the money should be used to help fund free education.
"We are happy with the outcome, we believe that all the accumulated interest must be paid to the account of our country. The land, money and everything that was stolen by the apartheid system must be paid back," he said.
Meanwhile at the press briefing in Pretoria yesterday, Mkhwebane revealed she would oppose President Jacob Zuma's bid to review the state capture report.
She was asked about the pressure she has been under since taking over from predecessor, Thuli Madonsela.
"We have 4000 plus deadlock cases dating back to 2011/2012. It is unfair to South Africans to have such cases which we are trying to push and finalise," she said.
The Public Protector was also asked about speculation that she was "captured" by Zuma.
"I am captured by the Constitution, I am not captured by any person hence I am here to serve South Africans and not serve any political party or any person," she added.
