The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has welcomed the decision to deny bail to a farmer accused of murdering a man on his property.
Edward Solomon allegedly shot a mourner during a funeral on his farm.
He was denied bail by the New Hanover Magistrates Court in the Midlands on Wednesday.
The department's Khaye Nkwanyana says they will continue to watch the case closely as it unfolds in court.
"We have been involved as a department from the day of the incident to ensure that the suspect is apprehended. We have been working with the police to ensure the case is tight. We have also been giving support to the family," he said.
