KZN advocacy groups call on Dept to address 'healthcare crisis'

Section 27 and the Treatment Action Campaign in KZN are calling on the Department of Health in the province to address what they call the collapse of the healthcare system.
"We believe that there is an emergency that the Department of Health in KZN needs to address," he said.
The TAC says the grievances brought forward by the SA Medical Association highlight the shortages of healthcare workers an the conditions of public hospitals.
Last week, SAMA led a march together with medical practitioners and health workers in the Durban CBD to bring attention to challenges faced in the sector.

Spokesperson, Mzamo Zondi says it's difficult to treat patients suffering from HIV/AIDS and TB when there's a lack of resources and manpower.
"The Department must act before the end of May - of which failing to will mobilise communities in KwaZulu-Natal and engage in a mass protest," he said.
The KZN Health Department says it's looking into the grievances brought forward by the association.
