KwaDukuza ratepayers hope new mayor ‘will last longer’
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
A ratepayers association in KwaDukuza says it hopes the next mayor will bring stability to the municipality.

This comes after the ANC removed Mayor Ali Ngidi and his deputy, Sicelinjabulo Cele, just eight months into their term.
The dismissal follows an internal ANC investigation into misconduct and financial mismanagement, including more than a million rand spent on hired vehicles and a R173,000 monthly security bill for the mayor.
Brian Pottinger, from the Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association, says the ANC needs to get its house in order.
" We've had three mayors in five years. So obviously our hope is, first of all, that the next mayor stays in office to see us at least through to the next municipal elections.
"Secondly, that the ruling party, which is the African National Congress in KwaDukuza, just settles down to actually administer in the interest of all its citizens. We've had too much political factionalism within the ruling party, and we must now move beyond that."
He says they're looking forward to working with whoever replaces the current mayor.
"To try and ensure quality delivery of service to the residents."
