KwaDukuza ratepayers call for end of strike
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
KwaDukuza ratepayers are calling on the municipality and its workers to reach a deal to end an ongoing strike.

Hundreds of workers affiliated with SAMWU downed tools this week, disrupting refuse removal and street cleaning services.
The group marched to the municipal offices in Ballito over unpaid overtime, job grading disputes, and delayed evaluations.
"So, there's been a major disruption of traffic," says Brian Pottinger, who is from the Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association.

"There's also been reports that there's been damage to property and there's also been a substantial amount of littering. Litter taken and actually thrown onto the streets, and while the local bodies attempt to clean up that litter, it gets thrown back again.
"It's been an inconvenience to local residents in terms of business activity, in terms of emergency vehicle movements, causing major damage to all of us."
