KwaDukuza Mayor to remain in office for now
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal says KwaDukuza Mayor, Ali Ngidi, will remain in office for now.

The Democratic Alliance claims that under Ngidi's leadership, the municipality is on the brink of collapse and has called on the Cooperative Governance Department to step in.
Earlier this month, the ANC announced it had removed Mayor Ngidi and Deputy Mayor Sicelinjabulo Cele, accusing them of misconduct and financial mismanagement.
The municipality has been rocked by allegations of embezzlement, excessive spending, power blackouts, and a workers’ strike.
The DA says KwaDukuza's caught in the middle of an internal ANC power struggle.
But the party's provincial spokesperson, Fanele Sibisi, says no official decision has been made on a replacement yet.
He says they're also in talks with other parties to decide whether the municipality will continue to be led by an ANC mayor.
"We have more numbers, although we don't necessarily have numbers above 50%, so we are engaging with other political parties so that we're able to retain the two portfolios."
