Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
More than R23 million has been set aside to improve two of KwaDukuza Municipality's busiest taxi ranks.

Mayor Lindile Nhaca attended the sod-turning ceremony on Thursday.
The municipality says R17.9 million is earmarked for the upgrades to the KwaDukuza rank, while the remaining R5.6 million will be spent on the Ballito rank.

The projects, which will include shower facilities for taxi drivers, are expected to be completed by March next year.
Nhaca said many taxi ranks are poorly maintained and congested and pose a serious health risk to commuters.
