Jozini mayor warned not to repeat payment delays
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
IFP president Velenkosini Halbisa says the mayor of Jozini has been told to ensure municipal workers never experience a situation where they are not paid.

The IFP-run northern KZN municipality failed to pay salaries for June, citing an unpaid government debt of R17 million.
At a briefing in Durban on Monday, Hlabisa said they've asked Mayor Nkosinathi Myeni and KZN Cooperative Governance to give maximum attention to all listed service delivery areas of concern.
Hlabisa has also refuted claims that the party is using the KZN Cooperative Governance Department and Premier's Office to intervene in ANC-run.
COGTA MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi last week said he was locked out of the uMkhanyakude District Municipality's offices when he went to introduce a new administrator.
" There is no one section 39 that is introduced by a COGTA MEC without a resolution of the cabinet. If you have an unfunded budget, you can say it’s politics. Adopt the funded budget and demonstrate that we do not need any intervention.
“But if for many years. You are running an unfunded budget with a number of challenges - the day our counselors put politics aside and do what is right, they will automatically be taken out of intervention."
