Job creation, COVID-19 and education hot topics for today's SOPA
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The COVID-19 crisis and job creation are set to dominate this year’s State of the Province Address. Premier Sihle Zikalala is scheduled to deliver his speech at 10 this morning.
The Royal Show Grounds won't be its usual hive of activity this year.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the premier will take the podium at the KZN legislature in Pietermartizburg in front of an audience of 50 people.
That's a far cry from the usual 1500 to 2000 politicians and dignitaries that graced the event in the past.
The budget has been slashed from around R2.5 million over two days to just a single day function that costs R500 000.
Today the people of KZN will get a clear picture of how the province has been getting things done.

Education and municipal as well as departmental expenditure are other hot topics.
Meanwhile Isilo Samabandla Wonke King Goodwill Zwelithini who hasn't been while won't be attending this event.
