JHB Mayor Dada Morero survives motion of no-confidence

Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has survived a motion of no-confidence against him on Wednesday.

The motion was tabled by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the council, the party accused Morero of poor service delivery in the county's economic hub.
The motion was, however, rejected by the African National Congress (ANC) with support from coalition partners including the EFF, while Action SA abstained.
A total of 144 councilors voted against the motion, while 75 voted in favour and 43 abstentions.

A motion of no confidence against Johannesburg Chief Whip Sithembiso Zungu was also rejected.
Meanwhile, Johannesburg Council Speaker Nobuhle Mthembu was ousted in a motion of no-confidence vote.
Overwhelmingly 212 councillors voted in favour while 48 voted against, with no abstentions.
