Isipingo fatal shooting: Residents fear gunmen's return
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal, Jarryd Subroyen
Residents of the Pilgrim Informal Settlement in Isipingo say they are afraid the gunmen who opened fire on nine people yesterday - killing four will come back.
It's believed the shooting was drug-related. The suspects targeted one house in the area.
One resident who spoke to Newswatch says it wasn't the first time that gunmen had come to the settlement looking for what they call whoonga boys.
He says the occupants of the house that was targeted were not related.
"During the shooting, one of the four boys was keeping watch. He would go check on the road and go back to where the shots were coming from. People were scared to approach the scene until the guys left.
"A girl who was in the small house who survived the shooting came outside after the shooter had left and told us the gunman said they were looking for these boys, the Whoonga ones," he said.
