iSimangaliso betting on Mkhuze Airport facelift to increase visitors
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
iSimangaliso Wetland Park says it's getting ready to welcome an influx of holidaymakers to KZN's eastern shores over the festive season.
The coastal site expects bookings to improve in the months to come.
CEO Sibusiso Bukhosini says this is partly thanks to the upgrade launch of the Mkhuze Airport this week and efforts by local businesses to attract visitors to uMkhanyakude.

Bukhosini says the airport's a convenient feature for the northern region's many local and international visitors.
"It basically means that now we are going to have cargo straight from Mkhuze (Airport), we are going to have tourists flying straight to Mkhuze from OR Tambo or from King Shaka, which basically is good news for us because it means that our tourists are not going to drive long distances.
"They are going to fly in and in a short space of time, they are going to be in our area."
