Mjwara, who died while looking for three victims lost in the KZN floods in Pietermaritzburg, was laid to rest on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Schalk Scheepers, from the 10111 Control Centre in Pietermaritzburg, told mourners that Mjwara was admired for her bravery.

"We were gutted and heartbroken to hear of the loss of Busi, she was an inspiration to the younger generation and very precious to us.

“She joined the search and rescue unit in Hilton in 2016. She was a pioneer in her field mainly dominated by men. This is special type of person that needs to work in the unit.

“It’s the recovery of bodies, it’s not having a fear of water. It’s not an easy job and it's not something that any of our normal policeman can do."

“Above that, she was someone’s daughter, wife, mother, aunt and sister. To Busi we want to say, society placed a huge a tremendous demand on you to ensure justice is served.
