Initiative calls on SA to deal with challenges
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Three former presidents have called on South Africans to take back control of the country.
The National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) held its inaugural dialogue in Parktown. The meeting was addressed by former heads of state FW de Klerk, Kgalema Motlanthe and Thabo Mbeki.
The initiative is calling on South Africans to urgently deal with the challenges facing the country.
De Klerk laid the blame at President's Zuma's feet, for what he believes to be a constitutional crisis.
"The president has undermined the independence of the Chapter 9 institutions, including the Intelligence Services, the National Prosecuting Authority and the Hawks," said De Klerk.

Motlanthe urged South Africans to take a stand and speak up before it's too late.
"If we allow this unwholesome character of politics to continue while we wallow in silence, history will never forgive our generation," said Motlanthe.
Mbeki said the constitution is an embodiment of the will of the people and no one person or institution is above it.
"Surely all of us will agree that there can never be any person or institution in the new South Africa whose actions will be more authoritative or supreme than the voice of the people," said Mbeki.
