Informal settlement fires 'difficult to investigate'
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Police say ten separate fires were reported last year alone at the Kenville Informal Settlement in Durban North.

A case of arson's being investigated after the latest blaze claimed the life of a pregnant woman and gutted over 200 homes.
Sunday's tragedy left more than 400 families homeless.
Speaking during a media briefing on Tuesday, KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkwanazi says most of these cases are difficult to investigate.
"There's about 17 informal settlements. The recent incident that happened, the report we got from the investigation team is that the fire start from inside a shack.

"It's a painful thing but we do plead that we can be assisted with law enforcement. We don't feel with these fires, especially in the informal settlements. So we do hope that when we find suspects in any case of arson. We do hope to bring them to court and there'll be a successful prosecution."
