Increasing electricity cost is worrying, says pensioner
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A Wentworth pensioner says she finds it almost laughable how she and others like her have to use their last penny just to pay for electricity.
Corayne Walters was one of those who attended a public hearing into the proposed tariff increase by Eskom to hike electricity cost by more than 16%.
She says just last month her electricity was the highest it's ever been since the 80s and the scary part is that she only lives alone.
Walters says the hearings are their last hope.
"I live alone. I don't use as much stuff as people who have big families so I really can't understand it and for them to even think of increasing for one cent is disgusting," she said.
