IFP not 'desperate' to enter coalition - Hlabisa
Inkatha Freedom Party leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said they are not desperate to enter into a coalition following the general elections.
No party managed to win an outright majority, which means some sort of coalition will need to be cobbled together to form a national government.
The party received over 600,000 votes nationally compared to 588,839 (3.38%) in 2019.
Hlabisa said the party's mission was to bring the ANC below 50%.
"There has been a narrative going around that a new political party, MK, gave a difficult time to all political parties.
"The truth that is known by all of you is the IFP was not affected by the MK now we have exceeded the figures we got in 2019 during national general elections."
Hlabisa lauded his party's growth from the previous polls.
"We have also exceeded the figures we got in 2021 so our base is solid, unfortunately, it is other parties who suffered severely.
"The IFP, in terms of numbers, will probably be the only party, that increased its voter base in terms of numbers and also in terms of percentage."
