IFP to benefit from NFP's elections ban: analyst

A political analyst feels the IFP stands to benefit the most from the disqualification of the NFP from the local government elections.

Durban-based Imraan Buccus feels a number of issues have crippled the NFP, including the health of its leader. 


The IEC has barred the party from competing in the August 3 polls because it never paid its registration fee on time.

Buccus believes this will have massive ramifications for KZN.


"The fact that the NFP will now not be participating will add greater economic task to the IFP. The IFP is going to emerge a winner in all of this for the non-participation of the NFP and the fact that it is within the ANC," he said.
