IEC officials expect smooth sailing on election day
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The 3rd of August has been declared a public holiday so voters can cross their ballot paper at their local voting station.
4 794 voting stations will be open on the day.
All but one will operate from 7am-7pm.
The IEC's Mawethu Mosery says one voting station in the Umkhanyekude District Municipality's Nkovokeni area on the north coast will close at 2 in the afternoon.
"To get to the place were the voters are you have to use a boat to get across and the lake infested with hippos. No one wants to be near hippos in the dark. They are nocturnal so they can be troublesome after dark" he said.
