I am embarrassed: Sassa CEO
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Chief Executive Officer of the South African Security Agency (Sassa), Thokozani Magwaza has apologised for the situation South Africa finds itself in.
Sassa and Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has come under fire for dragging their feet in finding a new service provider to assist in the payment of 17 million social grants from 1 April 2017.
This has led to the Constitutional Court ruling that the contract between Sassa and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) be extended by 12 months.
"I am embarrassed and it was not supposed to have happened, but it has happened and it's water under the bridge.
"What is good right now is that the court has ruled that come 1 April 2017 we must pay the beneficiaries and we will be paying the beneficiaries.
"As I am talking to you, my guys are in the office starting to pull the trigger, they are pulling the trigger today," said Magwaza.
