Hospitality industry welcomes adjusted level 3 regulations
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
There is a collective sigh of relief within the hospitality industry following the easing of some restrictions last night.
Inter-provincial travel for leisure will soon be allowed, meaning BnBs, hotels and other accommodation will be able to open their doors to South Africans keen on a domestic getaway.
Tourism minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane also announced the night-time curfew will be extended by an hour to 10pm.
She says this will allow restaurants enough time for their dinner service and give staff time to return home.
Even though the sale of alcohol remains prohibited, CEO of the Restaurant Association of SA, Wendy Alberts says the curfew extension is a step towards bringing some relief for the sector.

She said the news that the minister announced yesterday outlines the campaign that they embarked on last week, which highlighted the devastation of the restaurant industry and how important timing is for them
"It lovely to see many people frequenting restaurants again, our restaurants certainly were full over the weekend and will continue to increase," said Alberts.
"We are appreciative of the consultation and consideration that's currently underway and we hope that there will be favourable release soon in terms of the liquor ban being lifted."
