Hlomuka, Simelane deny allegations of misconduct

KwaZulu-Natal’s Education and Health MECs have denied
allegations of political interference and misconduct.

Sipho Hlomuka has been accused of tender rigging in connection with the National School Nutrition Programme.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika on Wednesday night, Hlomuka said he registered a company in 2015 but did not know it had been awarded a nutrition tender as he is no longer involved in it.
Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane is accused of orchestrating the dismissal of a local radio presenter.
In a statement released, she says her department has no control over media staffing decisions.

KZN Premier Thami Ntuli says while the allegations are unproven, they carry serious reputation risks.
Spokesperson Lindelani Mbatha says Ntuli has written both MECS.
“KZN Premier Thami Ntuli has formally written to both MECs to submit comprehensive reports to my office, detailing all relevant facts, context, and any recent developments pertaining to the allegations. This information will guide an appropriate and responsible course of action by the provincial government.”
