President Velenkosini Hlabisa says the party remains committed to its quest to bring meaningful change in the lives of people.

"As we all come to terms with the passing of our founder and president, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, as the IFP leadership collective, we want to assure our members and South Africans that Umthwana has groomed up for the road ahead."

Hlabisa was speaking at a briefing in Durban on Friday, where the party announced some developments ahead of the polls.

Hlabisa was sworn in as a member of the National Assembly yesterday, filling the vacancy left after the passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Blessed Gwala moves from being the chief whip of the official opposition in the KZN Legislature to become the leader of the official opposition.

Hlabiba had occupied that position.

The IFP president dismissed claims of factions within the party.

He's also rubbished claims he was pushed to parliament, to make way for KZN chairperson Thami Ntuli to take up the premier candidacy.

"The IFP has never meant to discuss who will be a Premier candidate in 2024 or who will be in the list of members of provincial legislatures and the National Assembly."
