Hlabisa: Flood-hit provinces to receive funds soon

Cooperative Governance Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa says relief funds for provinces that were hit by floods in January will be transferred this month.

He says the process will happen in two phases.
Torrential rains hardest hit the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.

The devastating floods in January caused widespread damage and displaced thousands, prompting several provinces to declare a state of disaster.
Six months later, Hlabisa says the National Disaster Management Centre has finalised the allocation of the R1.2 billion in municipal disaster response grants.
