High risk of load shedding as wage talks continue
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Eskom says the risk of rotational load shedding remains high for this evening but power cuts will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.
This as management and representatives of three unions are locked in wage negotiations this afternoon.
Load shedding became a reality again earlier this week, when Eskom implemented Stage 1 power cuts due to the industrial action.
The talks are being facilitated by the CCMA after the parties failed to find common ground.
The NUM, NUMSA and Solidarity have turned down two offers out on the table by Eskom.

The utility's Dikatso Mothae says a sticking point is performance bonuses. She says there's a possibility of load shedding for as long as there's no agreement.
"What the unions have said is that the deal breaker is a bonus. We've said that there's no money to pay bonuses. This evening, we'resaying there's a high probability we will need to go into load shedding. The risk is there for the rest of the week as well," Mothae said.
