Health workers protest after Prince Mshiyeni intern death
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Health workers and activists were
picketing in Umlazi on Tuesday morning to demand justice following the death of
a medical intern last week.

Dr Alulutho Mazwi collapsed while he was at work at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.
The 25-year-old was allegedly forced to report for duty in the paediatric ward last Monday, despite being ill.
The peaceful protest outside the hospital gates quickly grew, as more members of the Public Servants Association and EFF arrived to join the demonstration.
They were demanding accountability, better working conditions and more support for staff in public healthcare.
The protesters described the intern's death as a tragic reminder of the systemic neglect and exploitation of workers.

Dr Mazwi lived with diabetes for more than a year.
His family said he had been unwell in the days leading up to his death.
It is alleged he informed a supervising consultant that he was ill on the 12th of May but was instructed to continue working.
Mazwi's death has sparked public outrage, prompting investigations by both the KwaZulu-Natal Health Department and the Office of the HealthOmbud.
Meanwhile, family, friends and colleagues are expected to attend a memorial service in his honour at the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
