Health Ministry remains on high alert despite no coronavirus cases reported in SA
As more countries report cases of the coronavirus, health officials here say all ports of entry are on high alert should anyone entering South Africa display symptoms.
The SARS-linked virus has already killed nine people in China - while over 400 cases have been confirmed.
So far, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the US have reported cases.
Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Lwazi Manzi says all necessary equipment and health care services have been made available to deal with any possible cases.

"We are on high alert for any kind of situation that could pose a threat to an outbreak in this country, we wish is to assure the public that so far they have been no cases reported of coronavirus in this country," she says.

Manzi urges anybody who has been traveling to report to the nearest health care worker, and particularly if they exhibit flu like symptoms with a travel history of a region to China.
