Health MEC: Public anger does not warrant the destruction of property
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Sibongiseni Dhlomo says no amount of anger warrants the burning of a public facility.
The comment follows unrest at the Stafford Clinic in Madadeni in northern KwaZulu-Natal yesterday -- following the death of a 6-year-old boy.
The child apparently hurt himself in a local park and went to the clinic for treatment, but it was closed.
Protestors threatened to raze the clinic.
Dhlomo has called on police to keep a close eye on the situation.
"We want our police to keep an eye on that facility. People just get angry and just do very irrational things - burning things. No anger, of any member of society, should warrant a school, clinic or police station being torched, irrespective of the reason" said Dhlomo.
