Hawks officials raided his Western Cape home yesterday evening.

Pauw was told a search warrant was granted and officials were looking for evidence relating to the case by the State Security Agency following the publication of his book.

"According to the search and seizure warrant - they were looking for secret documents or information that belongs to the State Security Agency and it pertains to the book. They've search the offices to look for any classified State Security documentation," Pauw says.

The SSA laid a criminal charge against the writer - citing a violation of the Intelligence Services Act.

Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Muluadzi says they will wait for further instructions from the NPA on the investigation.

"This comes after the Magistrate granted the investigating team a warrant based on an ongoing investigation. There was a case opened by the SSA regarding the book - alleging that there was intelligence information [contained there]. As such, this is part of that investigation. So we were just looking for documents. If we don't get anything - we will then have to go back to the NPA and they will decide on a way forward," Muluadzi says.
