Harding community devastated after young siblings killed in fire

Umuziwabantu Mayor Siboniso Zungu says the Harding community has been left shocked and devastated following the deaths of two children in a fire.
Five-year-old Melokuhle Madiya and his seven-year-old sister Hlelowenkosi are said to have been playing inside an old, stationary car at their home in Nqabeni village when the blaze broke out.
Their mother tried to rescue them, but the vehicle's doors would not open.
Zungu, the newly elected local municipal mayor, visited the traumatised family on Sunday.
"We are sad on behalf of the municipality because we were here not so long ago to bury the father of these kids who was a taxi owner and he got shot and we were here and now this. We are trying to organise more help as the municipality."
Police in KwaMachi Location have opened an inquest docket.
