Ajay, Atul and Rajesh, who're at the centre of a years-long probe into the embezzlement of state assets, fled South Africa several years ago.

Interpol issued a red notice against two of the brothers.

The foundation's Derek Hanekom says they're fugitives from justice.

"The extradition agreement is only one step towards that action. International pressure is exceedingly important in getting the governments that have the power to act to act decisively and swiftly.

"It is really a travesty of justice that this grand corruption which was felt by the poorest people in our society, perpetrators of the corruption are waling scot-free in another country."

Hanekom spoke at a media briefing on Thursday to launch a campaign to arrest the trio.

The Foundation's Nabeelah Khan says work will begin next year with global partners.

"The first being to ensure that the said corrupt activities committed by the Guptas as the associates remains in the spotlight.

"Secondly, to loopy country ambassadors, officials and bodies of authority to consider actions against the Gupta family and their businesses in their respective areas and thirdly to advocate  for the successful extradition of the Guptas to South Africa."
