Teachers’ grievances sees grade 8 to 11 exams postponed in Umlazi and Pinetown
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
While today's matric maths papers got off without any hitches, Grade 8 to 11 exams at some schools in the Umlazi and Pinetown districts have been postponed.

Some educators affiliated with the trade union SADTU are protesting over a set of grievances they have with KZN Department of Education.
Last week, the union said it would intensify its action after describing the response to their mass march in Durban last month as disappointing and empty.
Their demands include the payment of financial allocations to schools and the permanent employment of Grade R teachers.

KZN Education's Muzi Mahlambi says it's concerning that exams are being disrupted.
"We will engage with the leadership of SADTU, and we are very much hoping that we will come up with an amicable solution."
DA KZN spokesperson on Education Imraan Keeka says while they support the union's fight, it can't be at the expense of the future of the children...
"The exams cannot be jeopardised, and it is dastardly to disrupt it at this stage."
"The protest will not only harm our learners and SADTU's actions are a direct result of an uncaring Taliban faction of the ANC government in KwaZulu Natal, which has failed to adequately address the concerns over time, which SADTU continues to unashamedly support all the time."
