Humanitarian group, the Gift of the Givers, says it's sent teams to assist the Free State community of Vredefort in the wake of troubling developments due to the cholera outbreak.
The Pietermaritzburg-based NPO says it received reports this week that three family members succumbed to the water-borne disease recently.
The group's founder Imtiaz Sooliman says it's understood that a woman, her aunt and her grandmother passed away within the space of three days, leaving behind a traumatised teenage girl and her siblings.
He says they will travel to other parts of the country to assist communities facing a water crisis.

"Our teams are distributing water in several areas and will make further assessments to understand the level of the crisis in that community. In the meantime, we are still busy in Hammanskraal.
"Onsite, Gift of the Givers has two tankers from Imperial Logistics providing 64 000 litres of clean, pure drinking water. Also, we are busy in Makhanda where settlers hospital and six other clinics require water because of E. coli infection, increasing the number of ill people in the area."
The cholera outbreak death toll rose to 32 on Thursday night, after the Department of Health confirmed a woman in the Free State had passed away.
