The Automobile Association is predicting significant price drops for June.

It's welcome news for South Africans after a few months of steady price increases.

The AA has looked at the latest unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund and expects the price of both grades of petrol to go down by around R1,06 a litre.

A litre of diesel could cost R1 less, and the price of illuminating paraffin is set to drop by around 80 cents a litre.

The AA says lower international oil prices and a stronger rand/US dollar exchange rate are driving the price decreases.

The Department of Minerals and Energy is expected to announce the official adjustments before Wednesday.
