Fuel price expected to decrease in March
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Fuel prices are set to drop in
March, with motorists benefitting from a more stable exchange rate and lower international
fuel prices.
The Automobile Association is predicting a 38 cents a litre drop in the price of petrol, 47 cents for diesel and 26 cents for illuminating paraffin.
"The rand was trading at around R12.00 to the US dollar at the start of February, and has gradually strengthened to an average level approaching R11.80 for the month," says spokesperson Layton Beard.

Beard says it is some good news after the fuel levy was hiked during the recent budget speech.
"If the rand maintains its current stable trend against the US dollar, the main driver of fuel price changes in the near future will be international petroleum prices.”
Fuel price changes come into effect on the first Wednesday, 7 March.
