Free State police say an eight-year-old girl has been abducted from her school.
They say her alleged kidnappers are demanding R50 000 for her safe return.
It's reported that an unknown woman took Bokamoso Shabe from Mantshebo Primary in Welkom on Monday.
The child's grandmother says they then received a call from a man who demanded R50 000 rand ransom from the family.

A woman by the name Nthabeleng called the next day with the same order.
Police have made an appeal to members of the public for assistance.
"On the day of her disappearance, the little girl was wearing a school uniform, a white shirt, grey and white jersey, grey skirt and black shoes,” says Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele.
