Fraud case against ex-Hawks head postponed
Updated | By News24
The former head of the Hawks in Gauteng, Shadrack Sibiya, appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of fraud.
In September 2015, Sibiya was dismissed from his position for the illegal rendition of Zimbabwean nationals.
This followed the finding of an independent disciplinary inquiry in July 2015 that Sibiya was guilty of involvement in the matter. The five were returned to their home country where they were tortured and two were killed.
Though the disciplinary inquiry found that he didn't participate in the renditions, it found that he sanctioned them.
The case was postponed until February 17.
