Four suspected robbers have been arrested following a shootout with police in Durban.
The suspects were nabbed in the Glenwood area yesterday afternoon.
SAPS spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says officers had been following up on information on the suspects who had been parked in Lilian Ngoyi Road - that's the old Windermere Road - in Morningside.
Gwala says the occupants of the vehicle are believed to have been involved in a number of carjackings and robberies in Durban.
She says the suspects fled when officers tried to intercept their vehicle.
A chase then ensued.
"They lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree in Glenwood. The suspects then abandoned their vehicle and tried to flee on foot," she said.
Gwala says officers gave chase and arrested four people believed to be in their late twenties.
