Fishermen rescued from burning ship off Durban coast
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Two people are receiving treatment in hospital after being rescued from a container ship off the Durban coast.

One of the men had to be airlifted by the SA Airforce's 15-Squadron yesterday.
He had suffered severe burns to his body after a fishing vessel he had been on caught fire after an explosion off the coast of Madagascar on Sunday.

Netcare911's Nick Dollman says thirty crew members were rescued from the Taiwanese fishing vessel with two container ships picking up 16 and 14 people respectively.
"Paramedics flew up to the incident and an Oryx helicopter and were hosted down to the injured. The first man, approximately 40-years-old, had sustained severe burns to his hands, arm and face.
"He was attended to by an advanced life support paramedic at the scene. Medication was administered to manage his pain. The second man had sustained moderate injuries to his leg," he said.

The crew members who weren't hurt in the ordeal were also brought to Durban yesterday.
