Final day to submit tax returns
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The deadline extends until 4pm today for South Africans to submit their tax returns.
The SA Revenue Service has recorded 5.3-million tax returns with more than half being done electronically via e-Filing.
SARS' Sandile Memela says there's been a growth of 11% in comparison to last year's returns recorded at 5.94-million.

"Failure to meet the deadline would automatically mean that penalties kick in. These can range from anything from R25 to multi-millions depending on how much one earns. Taxpayers are urged and reminded to do e-filing which is the quickest and simplest way," he said.
Provisional taxpayers using eFiling have until January 31 to submit their returns.
