Expert explains danger of grenades
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Shaun Osbourne of Nastec Shooting Range has been commenting following the murder of an Amanzimtoti woman in a hand grenade attack at the weekend.
Thirty-three-year-old Letshego Mohoasa was allegedly attacked following an argument on Sunday morning.
Her husband, Joel, appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Osbourne says there are several different types of grenades, including some designed to be non-lethal.
"The damage can be highly extensive. It can lead to total destruction, especially if you're in a closed environment. The hand grenade's kill radius is 5m, anybody within that range is going to be fatal. Also you can be injured within the 15m, caused by the steel fragments from the grenade," he said.
