eThekwini says road upgrades more climate-resilient
Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
eThekwini Municipality says it's making strides in building more climate-resilient infrastructure.

Since the April 2022 floods, the city has embarked on multi-million-rand projects to fix damaged roads, bridges, and stormwater systems.
These include the reconstruction of the Coedmore Bridge in Yellowwood Park, south of Durban, which was destroyed during the disaster.
The project, which cost over R49 million, is expected to be completed this month.
eThekwini says the upgrades are part of a strategy integrating early warning systems, community preparedness, and climate-smart planning.
"The M4 and M19 corridors, once impassable, are being reconstructed as climate-resilient lifelines," says spokesperson Gugu Sisilana.
"The Prospection Road and uMlazi Canals, once overwhelmed, are now being fortified to protect homes, industries, and livelihoods."
