eThekwini resumes recycling bags delivery

The municipality says the manufacturers were badly affected by the storm in October which halted production for some time.   

Areas north of Durban were mainly affected, including upper La Lucia, La Lucia and Glen Anil.  

eThekwini's Mandla Nsele says the suppliers - who were flooded - have completed repairs to damaged infrastructure and equipment.

"Our suppliers will start the collection from January 15. We would like to thank all our residents for their patience during this time," he says.

Meanwhile, the municipality has asked residents to be patient as they work to collect refuse from outside homes.

It says DSW workers are busy dealing with a collection backlog after downing tools this past weekend. 

Refuse removal services returned to normal after an agreement was reached between employees and eThekwini on Monday.
