eThekwini refuse services disrupted by 'illegal' strike
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) says workers in the solid waste unit in eThekwini are striking because of empty promises of permanent jobs by the City.
Employees under the Expanded Public Works Programme have downed tools over the permanent positions they say they were promised.
The strike, which eThekwini says is illegal, has left rubbish in parts of Durban uncollected
Spokesperson for the municipal workers union, Jaycee Ncanana says the workers are frustrated.
