eThekwini refuse collection services resume
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
eThekwini says its refuse removal services have returned to normal.
The municipality's Mandla Nsele says an agreement with striking workers was reached yesterday.
"The municipality gave all striking employees an ultimatum yesterday to report their work or face having their contract terminated. We are happy that the service has resumed and the city has doubled the human capacity to ensure that the backlog has been cleared by the end of this week," he says.
Workers who are part of the City's Expanded Public Works Programme downed tools - demanding full-time employment.
