eThekwini ‘prioritising’ fixing Verulam water supply
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo and Andile Tsotetsi
eThekwini Municipality says it is prioritising improvements
to water supply in Verulam and other areas hit by recurring outages, adding it has been transparent about its efforts.

Some residents in Verulam have voiced their frustration over the supply problems there.
Roshan Lil-Ruthan from the Verulam Water Crisis Committee says it has been dragging on for nearly two years.
"As we move beyond this week, we encourage everyone from government to families, businesses, to individuals to keep child protection at the top of our national agenda. Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved, and heard. It takes a community to raise a child."

The city says all three reservoirs have sufficient supply, except the tower, where storage depletes quickly due to high demand.
It has been explained that systems take time to stabilise.
Officials say they have held several meetings with the Verulam community, adding that it is the only area in eThekwini with ongoing weekly war room updates.
